Meet our Team
Be part of our team
How do I join the team?
The first step is completing the New Employee Intake Form
A person from our team will be in contact with you soon to get more information, including scheduling a virtual interview! This interview is intended to get to know you, ensure we are a good fit for you, and offer a more comprehensive breakdown of the experience. It will also be a great opportunity to ask any questions you have!
Is this a "Full-Time" Position
No. This is a part-time, contract position. Contracts are created based on ship needs and availability, and are a mix of durations. Due to maritime retrictions you are not able to be on ship >10 months/year.
What is the pay structure for the contracts, and how do they work?
Contractors are paid weekly, based on the agreed upon rate. These payments are 1099 based agreements (ie no taxation is removed). As your room, board, and most food/drinks are covered, this compensation is seperate and above those items.
Do I get "PTO – Paid Time Off" while on contract?
Vacation and base wages are paid together, and vacation is paid out over time within the listed salary. This is a continuous contract and is a contractor role, and vacation is a payout (not actually taken) only.
How many hours per day or per week should I expect to work while on contract?
Hours may vary depending on the shows, the location, the ship, and the needs of the personnel. A rough estimate would see 30+ hours/week, however this includes show coverage which you will be present and backstage for!
What is the dress code?
Although there is not an official dress code, please dress comfortably and appropriately. When covering a show, please wear “Show Blacks”. “Show Blacks” are black or very dark clothing, so as to not stand out. Please no accent or vibrant colored shoes or hats as well. You may wear anything that is comfortable and appropriate while in the treatment cabin. I.e. exercise or athleisure apparel, smart casual.
Are there other medical providers on the ship?
There is a host of “medical providers” on the ship, specifically a medical group that is responsible for the entire ship (including passengers). This position oisiotn is specifically allocated to the performance and health of the passengers within a limited scope. You would provide immediate and life saving care if needed, however medical would take over from there as well as manage any conditions outside of your scope. This is discussed more when you sign your contract.
I have never worked with "Performing Artists" before. Is that a problem?
No, not at all! We do require that you have some coverage style experiences (sideline, sport, emergency manegement), however you do not need to have performing arts experience.
Do I have to pay for travel to the ship?
Nope! We cover both travel to and from the ship as part of the contract, and not out of your payment! You will specify those details with you contract when that comes.
Does this job opportunity require 100% travel?
Yes. You will be supporting our onboard ship entertainment team as they journey through several different ports of call.
Am I permitted to get off the ship and explore any ports of call?
Absolutely! You are free to explore as you will, pending the Coast Guard and Captain permission as well as ensure that the performers have been appropriately supported prior to disembarking to explore any given port.
What do I pack?
The walls in your cabin are magnetic so bring magnets and photos to post on the walls. You may bring some USB or battery powered lighting to hang in your cabin to create a little home away from home. Pack a few outfits for nice dinners or outings ashore. Any snacks or protein powder you might like in your cabin but please nothing that is perishable.
Do I have to share a cabin?
No. Everyone in Entertainment is entitled to have a private cabin.
The treatment room is different from the one you will live in.
Are there any gyms I am allowed to use for work or for personal use?
Likely, yes! However, this is dependent upon each contract and ship.
What kinds of modalities are available for treatment use?
Recovery systems and tools such as Normatec, Game Ready, Hypervolt massage gun, cupping set, soft tissue instruments, Compex TENS/ NMES portable unit.
Do I need to bring my own sideline fanny pack or soft tissue instruments?
Although not necessary, you are free to bring your personal sideline fanny pack or personal soft tissue instruments. Please no treatment tools that are invasive in any form (ex. Dry needling or acupuncture needles, scalpel, pelvic floor invasive tools).
Am I allowed to call myself the athletic trainer for the cruise lines?
No, our contract prohibits this. We are also not allowed to use ship specific marketing material to promote our program. Please discuss any social media posts ahead of time.
What if I get sick while on the ship?
You will have access to the medical crew for treatment and you will continue to be paid during that time, assuming you are able to remain on the ship and the condition is a short term issue! We ask that you PLEASE contact us as soon as you are able for us to help handle any logistics.
If there is a termination without cause, do I get paid the remainder of the contract?
This contract as well as Florida employment is considered “at will.” It is unlikely that either Next Stage will terminate without cause. If termination happens, the remainder of the employment agreement will not be paid. An exception falls within the force majeure clause or during periods of planned dry docking
